Wild at Heart

Camden loves experimenting with wild hair. I think, more than anything, that he needs a haircut! What Cayden & Camden should be doing....What Cayden & Camden prefer to be doing....

Despite the efforts of many parents to "tame" their boys, I think it's part of their character to be wild at heart. If they want to be adventurous & stand on their train, the distance they would fall would be short and the character building would be great. I still have moments when I gasp at the thought of one of them falling or slipping, or eating something odd, but they are boys and they are resilient. So boys, dust yourselves off and get back up again-- you'll be doing this the rest of your lives.

The Boys & Their Dog

The boys are still a little nervous around our big & easily excitable dog, Branson. They talk to him at the door, mostly telling him "don't bark, dog!". First thing in the morning, they point outside and ask for "dog". Then when Branson fails to show up at the door, Camden immediately says "dog nite-nite". So Daddy thought it would be a great time to start teaching them responsibility. He takes them to the garage to show them how he lets Branson out. He lets them watch from the window as he serves Branson his food. Camden picks up on things rather quickly.

If Camden does it, then Cayden has to do it too. So glad that they are becoming familiar with their future chores. They can't say they don't know how to do it-- pictures are worth a thousand words!

After all that doggy business, it's time for a bath. The boys LOVE bath time. They strip their own clothes & diapers off, running through the house in their birthday suit. It amazes me to see how much Cayden has outgrown his brother!

Another Hiding Place

Here's how this went: Cayden was playing with the door handle to the pantry while Camden watched, plotting his scheme as the gears cranked in his beautiful little head.Camden: "Hmmm. Ooooohh. Maybe if I just push a little harder.... "Ohhhh!! Where's brother? I wonder if anyone will notice?????
Meanwhile, Cayden is knocking on the door saying, "Mama? Brother??" The light in the pantry automatically shuts off when the door is closed, so he is in the dark. I'm sure there is many more of these to come. For now, I choose to laugh as it remains harmless, knowing that the days are flying by and these precious little ones are growing up before our very eyes.

My favorite part of these photos are their spiderman slippers!!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

Valentine's Day.... supposedly the "day of love." But to me, it's just another day of the year. I say this with all truthfulness-- my husband & I truly love each other and try to show it nearly every day of the year. We hope that our displays of affection will not only give our children a sense of security, but will teach them how to make their future spouses (& Mommy) feel loved. Now that Scott & I have our twoddlers (twin toddlers), we feel that perhaps we should do a little more to celebrate the day for our teeny little valentines.

So Happy Valentine's Day & Happy Everyday-of-Love to you too!

Outdoor Fun

Part of my mothering duties is to make sure the boys expend their energy in less destructive ways, so out we went, bundled in their jackets & fleece hats. It's so hard to believe that they are 17 months old. Cayden is in the brown & Camden in the blue.

Camden has picked up a neat skill. He dribbles the soccer ball between his feet while he walks or runs, keeping the ball in front of him at all times. Watch out Beckam, Camden's on his way!
